表演艺术的一种。狭义指在特定的环境中，运用各种道具，以高难和惊险的技巧动作为手段进行表演的人体技艺，如手技、顶技、蹬技、吊子、爬竿、走钢丝、车技、钻圈、柔术等；广义还包括口技、驯兽、滑稽、魔术等。有些国家把广义的杂技(往往不包括魔术)称为马戏，又根据表演环境和条件的不同而有高空杂技、舞台杂技、水上杂技、冰上杂技等之分。中国杂技在春秋战国时已具雏形，汉代大盛，为百戏的重要内容。以后历代有所发展，形成鲜明的民族风格。——《汉语大词典》
